Join an opportunity for academic librarians to exchange knowledge and share best practices, but also to strengthen international collaboration! The programme is designed for library professionals with various backgrounds, working in academic libraries or other research-oriented libraries with interest in sharing ideas, benchmarking practices and networking with international colleagues on the programme’s topics.

The Staff Week is conceived using the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) model, containing both a virtual and a physical component. 

Virtual part

  • 3 - 18 June 2026: three sessions
  • 6 - 10 July 2026: three sessions

Physical mobility

The physical mobility section of the course will take place between 22 - 26 June 2026, in Marseille, France. It will include:

  • Aix-en-Provence walking tour;
  • visit of the Cosquer cave (reproduction of a prehistoric cave);
  • hike in the Calanques;
  • visits to selected libraries.

The programme is designed for library professionals with various backgrounds, working in academic libraries or other research-oriented libraries with interest in sharing ideas, benchmarking practices and networking with international colleagues on the programme’s topics.

There is no registration fee, but the participants must cover the accommodation and travel costs. They may be eligible to apply for an Erasmus+ Staff Training grant in order to cover the costs related to this mobility (please refer to your Erasmus office for further information).

The number of participants is limited to 25. Priority will be given to librarians from the CIVIS alliance.

Professors:

Linda Ohrtmann is an academic librarian at  Paris Lodron University of Salzburg. She works as Open Science Coordinator and Data Steward and has managed the Universities Open Access Services for the last ten years. She will share her experience in storing, publishing and archiving open resources such as academic publications, research data and digitized cultural heritage objects.

Kyriaki Papadopoulou is a Senior Librarian at the Library of the School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, having joined the university in 2003. With a career in librarianship dating back to 1999, she is also a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Laboratory of Informatics (Faculty of Philology). Leveraging her extensive experience, she specializes in teaching Information Literacy and AI Literacy, bridging the gap between traditional library science and digital pedagogy to guide users through the ethical and practical challenges of the evolving digital landscape.

Linda Ohrtmann is an academic librarian at  Paris Lodron University of Salzburg. She works as Open Science Coordinator and Data Steward and has managed the Universities Open Access Services for the last ten years. She will share her experience in storing, publishing and archiving open resources such as academic publications, research data and digitized cultural heritage objects.

Julie Willems worked during 17 years in academic libraries, including over 10 years as head of user services at the luxembourg learning centre of the university of luxembourg. She is now an independant consultant. Her interest in user-centered approaches led her to integrate UX methodologies into her professional activities. In parallel, she offers UX design training to support librarians in designing innovative, relevant, and user-adapted services.

As a network of European libraries and expert librarians, EC also offers innovative workshops and mentoring sessions to libraries and communities.
