We finally know the winners of the First CIVIS3i Call for Postdoctoral Fellowships! Sixteen researchers from all over the world will begin their research projects at the four CIVIS3i partner Universities soon: Aix-Marseille Université in France, Université libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, Sapienza Università di Roma in Italy and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain.

The 16 researchers were selected by an independent, international Selection Committee from a pool of nearly 250 individuals. The laureates will come to the CIVIS3i Universities to carry out their research projects until January 2023. The second evaluation stage of the First Call, an interview with the Selection Committee, was challenging as there were 32 excellent shortlisted candidates for 16 fellowships. The Selection Committee assessed projects in three main categories – excellence, impact and feasibility. Each project also had to pass an ethical evaluation.

Funding was awarded to 8 interdisciplinary projects in Social Sciences and Humanities (Archaeology, Sociology, Literature, Musicology, Political Science), and 8 interdisciplinary projects in Hard Sciences (Physics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental and Geosciences).

The first CIVIS3i fellows are 10 men and 6 women comprising 8 nationalities, from Europe, the Americas and Western Asia.

The pdf documents below contain the list of projects with the final results (projects selected for funding, projects in the Reserve list and projects not retained for the First Call).
