Physical mobility

17 - 21 February 2025

The meeting in Madrid will provide students the opportunity to share their research with other PhD students. This collaboration will enhance cooperation and open the possibility to strengthen networks addressing common challenges across different countries and societies. In addition to networking, they will develop their communication skills by presenting their research in an international environment. Finally, they will receive feedback not only from other students but also from professors and invited organizations.

Virtual part

4 October 2024 - 7 February 2025

The virtual component will consist of a series of webinars led by participating professors. These seminars aim to enrich students' doctoral learning experiences by delving into specific aspects. Students will explore new methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, fieldwork, etc.), master techniques for graphic and oral research presentations, and learn to utilize specific databases, among other topics.

Requirements

The course is open to Master's and Ph.D. students at CIVIS member universities. Students will need to be enrolled in PhD programmes (urbanism, geography, landscape, cities, mobility, environment, architecture, urban tourism, sustainability, transport, urban governance, urban culture, ...) in their universities, or intend to do so in the near future.

Participants should have a B2 level of English.

To be eligible for your selected CIVIS programme, you must be a fully enrolled student at your CIVIS home university at the time you will be undertaking the programme. Click here to learn more about the eligibility criteria.

This course is also open to students with the same academic profile, who are enrolled at a CIVIS strategic partner university in Africa. Please check here, if you can apply and this particular course is open to applications from your university. Successful applicants will be nominated for an Erasmus+ grant covering travel and subsistence costs during their stay. Erasmus+ grant rules apply. Applicants should be willing to extend their stay at the host university for 1-3 weeks for additional research and/or training purposes.

All applications will be evaluated based on:

• Background closely related to the topic of the BIP
• Priority will be given to students who are enrolled in doctoral studies

Assessment

There are two main assessment methods foreseen in the course:

1. Virtual component: submission and approval of assignments. In each webinar there will be a task (webinar summary, open questions, questionnaire, etc.) that will have to be solved by the students.
2. Physical component: Elaboration and presentation of a research project, with special emphasis on the improvements made following participation in the virtual seminars

Blended Intensive Programme
