Cross-continental panel discussion during CIVIS Days

We are thrilled to announce that PolyCIVIS is kicking off its public events during CIVIS Days 2024 with an engaging, cross-continental webcast panel discussion, bringing together leading experts from Africa and Europe to share their interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary expertise and insights on today’s most pressing issues: the polycrisis.

Held at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, the event will focus on the pressing themes of:

  • Defining and understanding polycrisis
  • Exploring polycrisis’ interconnected global risks and cascading effects
  • Social impacts and inequalities
  • Changing the narrative: solutions and resilience

The panel will consist of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary experts who will share their fresh insights driven by their respective cultural, academic, and geographical backgrounds. As our first public event, it sets the stage for many more meaningful conversations, empowering diverse voices to address complex global challenges.

Through reflecting on existing strategies and exchanging knowledge, the panel will highlight the importance of bridging diverse perspectives, sharing knowledge and encouraging genuine curiosity towards pressing global challenges - and their solutions: at a time when the world is confronting a multitude of crises—environmental, political, social, humanitarian and economic—the need for collective understanding and cooperation has never been more crucial.

For those who cannot attend in person, the discussion will be streamed live online. PolyCIVIS invites its members, the CIVIS community and the general public to attend a not-to-be-missed hybrid event.
