Workshop in Sfax: A Step forward toward the Polycrisis Handbook

The University of Sfax successfully hosted the PolyCIVIS workshop on “Innovative Pedagogical Approaches for Teaching the Polycrisis” on 28–29 October 2025 in Sfax, Tunisia.

Gathering academics, higher education professionals and students, the two-day event explored and applied participatory and inclusive teaching methods designed to address complex global challenges through higher education.

The program featured insightful interventions by experts including Prof. Hassen MnifProf. Zouhair Ben Jannet, and Prof. Anis Jarboui who offered complementary perspectives on the technological, societal, and economic dimensions of the polycrisis. This was followed by interactive sessions led by Prof. Narjes Touzani. Participants experimented with creative approaches such as gamification, playful brainstorming, and collaborative learning, emphasizing the need to empower students as co-creators of knowledge and future leaders.

The second day featured a presentation by Prof. Donia Louizi highlighting how entrepreneurship and education can work hand in hand to build resilience and autonomy among young people.

All contributions and reflections gathered during the event will directly feed into the co-construction of the Polycrisis Handbook, a collaborative tool aiming to inspire innovative teaching practices across the Euro-African network.

Polycrisis Talks: a PolyCIVIS webinar series

The exchange of knowledge, best practices, and peer dialogue on the challenges and opportunities presented by the polycrisis, as it manifests in different member countries and beyond, is at the core of PolyCIVIS’s priorities.

Over the past few months, the PolyCIVIS project has hosted six webinars addressing key themes that support the research efforts of academics and researchers in non-urban areas across Africa and Europe. These sessions provided a platform to share insights and experiences, and to explore both common and divergent challenges.

Missed the webinars? Recordings and presentation materials are available on CIVIS Box for internal use within the network.
