Thursday 28 January 2021 saw the official launch of RIS4CIVIS (Research and Innovation Strategy for CIVIS), CIVIS’s flagship project in research and innovation supported by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 SwafS programme. The 3-year project, led by Aix-Marseille Université, will enable the CIVIS Alliance and other European universities to pave the way and pool out their expertise to address the 21st-century challenges through world-class R&I.

RIS4CIVIS is a great opportunity to share the best practices among the CIVIS member Universities and to build, together, a common vision of the research and innovation strategy.
All together we will define the contour of a European university gathering education, research and innovation to work with and for the society.

Prof Philippe Delaporte, VP for Research at Aix-Marseille Université, Coordinator of RIS4CIVIS

The RIS4CIVIS project will be built on the development of six thematic modules which will define the long-term strategy of CIVIS for research and innovation related to education and society:

  • Module 1: Developing a Common Research and Innovation Strategy
  • Module 2: Sharing infrastructures
  • Module 3: Reinforcing Academia-Business R&I Cooperation
  • Module 4: Strengthening Human Capital
  • Module 5: Mainstreaming of Open Science
  • Module 6: Embedding Citizens and Society.

The kick-off meeting, held online, presented the overall objectives and outcomes of the project among the stakeholders and project leaders to sync up, explore synergies and discuss the opportunities RIS4CIVIS will bring to the CIVIS alliance in order to lay the foundation for the success of the project.
