Date
7 to 8 June 2022

This webinar is a teaching offer of the CIVIS partners: University of Bucharest, Sapienza Università di Roma, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen.

The webinars will be divided into two days of lectures for a total of 11 hours of teaching.

Main topics addressed

The webinars will be focusing on the following three directions:

  • Prevention measures and public policies in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond. The validity of the Health Belief Model in informing policies in a crisis context, its relevance in capturing cross-country specificities
  • Developing new antimicrobial agents (natural or synthetic), virulence arresting drugs, repurposing drugs with approved indications, alternative treatments, etc., which could be correlated with the first pillar of pharmaceutical strategy for Europe, namely ensuring access to affordable medicines for patients and addressing unmet medical needs
  • Contribution of Nanotechnology to the discovery of new antimicrobial drugs, to take into account the second pillar of the mentioned strategy, which refers to helping competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability of the EU’s pharmaceutical industry and the development of high quality, safe, effective, and greener medicines

Learning outcomes

The webinars are expected to give an outline of the current status and future developments of antimicrobial agents, virulence arresting drugs, repurposing drugs with approved indications, alternative treatments, the contribution of nanotechnology, and public policies in the pandemic context and beyond.
