The Symposium has the educational aim of equipping PhD candidates with excellent performance in critical exposition and data discussion both for their thesis vivas and future scientific activities. Topics of interested will include: Health Sciences and Biomedicine, from basic and applied research to clinics, and from patient care to population health.

This event will be an optimal forum for PhD candidates to showcase their research and foster communication and potential collaborations between attendees from different laboratories and areas of expertise. Dr. Daniel Wilson will deliver the keynote talk "Leadership for a Complex World".

Daniel Wilson is the Director of Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), where he is also a Principal Investigator, a Lecturer at the HGSE, Faculty on the Doctorate for Educational Leadership at HGSE, and the Educational Chair at Harvard’s “Learning Environments for Tomorrow” Institute – a collaboration with HGSE and Harvard Graduate School of Design. His teaching and writing explore the inherent socio-psychological tensions – dilemmas of knowing, trusting, leading, and belonging -- in adult collaborative learning across a variety of contexts. Specifically, he focuses on how groups navigate these tensions through language, routines, roles, and artefacts.

The Symposium will be hybrid with onsite and online attendees. The event will consist of both parallel thematic online sessions and selected communications for plenary sessions onsite by PhD candidates, providing time for discussion. If safety conditions change due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Symposium will move to a fully online format.

The Programme will be based on the communications received from PhD candidates during the abstract submission period. The Symposium will be built moderated and poster sessions together with a plenary lecture on a transferable skill (leadership) that may be of interest for all the attendees independently of their field of research.

In addition, an invited keynote lecture on transversal skills and career guidance will be delivered for young researchers. We are happy to announce that this year the lecture will be delivered by Prof. Daniel Wilson from Harvard University
