This summer school offers an introduction to Atomic Force Microscopy in Life Sciences and Medicine for Ph.D students, post-docs, scientists, core facility technicians and engineers.

Learning outcomes

The school allows students to acquire and deepen their AFM knowledge but also to be initiated to new state-of-the-art developments both at the theoretical, instrumental and application levels. The school covers both the fundamentals and expert questions and offers the possibility for students to bring their samples. This summer school allows, thanks to the AFMBioMed network, to make contacts and establish scientific collaborations between all participants and supervisors.

This summer school is organised into 8 lectures and 5 pratical sessions.

Lectures will take place in the morning, complemented by hands-on experiments in the afternoon.

This summer school will take place in Marseille, France. However, the lectures in the morning will be open to joining online for a broader audience. 

Requirements

This summer school is open to Master's and PhD students at one of CIVIS member universities. 

The school is open to all AFM users: beginners are welcome.

Application process

Interested students should fill in the online application form by 8 May 2022.

Selected students will be notified on 10 May 2022.

General Eligibility Criteria for CIVIS Courses

Applicants need to be enrolled at their home university in order to be eligible for selection and participation.  If uncertain about your status at your home university (part-time or exchange students etc) please check with your home university’s website or International Office. 

Applicants who will be receiving other Erasmus funds for the duration of the course are not entitled to funding. Participation in the course may still be possible under “zero-grant” status, but applicants should contact their home university in order to confirm this.
