In March 2020, CIVIS launched its very first call for short term mobility projects. 11 educational projects were successfully approved for funding and will be implemented during the academic year 2020 - 2021.
The call involved two types of intensive educational programmes, CIVIS student days/week and CIVIS schools and was aimed to enhance collaboration among the CIVIS member universities, bringing together their scholars and students.
The educational projects were expected to comply with a set of requirements. Among them:
- all projects should involve at least 3 or more universities
- be related to one of the 5 CIVIS thematic education and research areas: Cities, Territories, Mobilities; Climate, Environment, Energy; Digital & Technological transformations; Health; Society, Culture, Heritage
- offer a concentrated educational experience over a short period of time
- promote the exchange of knowledge, ideas and discussions on specific topics, instigate new thoughts and animate debates
- cultivate an international mentality among students
- support structuring learning/research collaboration or strategies
Additionally, the educational projects were encouraged to focus on an interdisciplinary approach, by inviting also academics and students from different scientific fields to participate.
Educational activities could include lessons or lectures, keynote speeches, seminars, workshops, round-table discussions and be developed in a blended format (both physical and digital).
11 applications were submitted for the first call. The Evaluation Committee composed of mobility experts provided recommendations on the submitted proposals to the CIVIS governance. All projects were successfully approved by the Board of Rectors on 29th September 2020 and selected for funding of their first edition.
