This CIVIS Summer School is part of the academic and training activities of a project that focuses on developing transversal strategies for the social and educational integration of citizens, migrants, and refugees in sustainable and intercultural cities. The project scope applies a transversal and comparative approach and integrates field experts from education for sustainable development, teacher education, engineering, architecture, geography, applied linguistics and public education policy as articulatory axes to examine current European needs and challenges.

Learning outcomes

  • Be acquainted with environmental, social, sustainable, healthy, and intercultural factors in Europe
  • Gain strategies to develop a transversal and integrative social and educational approach to integrating citizens, migrants, and refugees
  • Be aware of linguistic, cultural, and social diversity in present-day society in relation to social conflict
  • Understand linguistic, social, and educational phenomena as creative, cross-disciplinary, and intercultural factors in society

*The recognition of ECTS depends on your home university. 

A maximum of 8 international CIVIS students will be accepted in the course for a total of 20 students.

Requirements

This CIVIS course is open to Masters' and PhD students at one of the 10 CIVIS member universities with an academic background related to the CIVIS course.

A B2 level of English is required.

Assessment

Attendance and active participation in the Summer School Workshops will be assessed.

Application Process

Interested students should fill in this online form by 2 May 2022.

Selected students will be notified by 10 May 2022.

General Eligibility Criteria for CIVIS Courses

Applicants need to be enrolled at their home university in order to be eligible for selection and participation.  If uncertain about your status at your home university (part-time or exchange students etc) please check with your home university’s website or International Office. 

Applicants who will be receiving other Erasmus funds for the duration of the course are not entitled to funding. Participation in the course may still be possible under “zero-grant” status, but applicants should contact their home university in order to confirm this.
