The course will try to explain to students what the most important points of digitally concluded contracts are, as well as what legal problems may arise from them. Legal choices made by artificial intelligences will also be part of the program. Likewise, issues of security and privacy of digital data and possible related cyber crimes will be addressed.

Learning outcomes

Students will be able to acquire basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of:

  • digital contracts and mart contracts
  • computerized trading platforms
  • artificial intelligences and decisions about law
  • protection of sensitive data online
  • cybercrimes in the field of private law

Physical mobility

The physical mobility week will be hosted in Salzburg, Austria, between 8-12 April 2024. During these days, we will have an in-depth study of all the topics covered during the online part. There will also be exercises with students and workshops treating practical cases.

In addition, there will be newtork meetings for students to get to know each other and for them to get to know the professors directly. During the physical part there will be lectures by different specialists in the subject.

Virtual part

During the virtual part in February, there will be introductory lectures on the following topics:

  • 1-2 february 2024: General introduction to the Law of internet
  • 8 February 2024: Digitally Concluded Contracts
  • 9 February 2024: Smart Contracts
  • 15 February 2024: Law in the Digital World
  • 16 February 2024: Digital Exchange Platforms and Contracts
  • 22 February 2024: Data Protection
  • 23 February 2024: Cybercrimes
  • 29 February 2024: Law and Internet

Requirements

This course is open to Bachelor's, Master's and PhD's students at CIVIS member universities with basic knowledge of private law, basic computer skills, basic digital-related social skills. The specific field of studies for this program is "Internet Law and Digital Law".

Knowledge af English (B1), German and Italian are required, along with skills such as analysis of legal problems, critical case-solving reasoning, knowledge of basic rules, data analysis, and knowledge of the digital world with regard to its law-related aspects.

Assessment

Students will be evaluated on the basis of course attendance and on the basis of two Workshops that will take place during the in-person phase.
