Building on EUROSUD’s over half-a-decade’s worth of experience, five degree-awarding CIVIS institutions offer a renewed 2-year joint master programme starting September 2025. Students study, train, and research at renowned universities in Spain (UAM), Italy (SUR), France (aMU), Greece (NKUA), and Belgium (ULB), at the heart of the European Union.

The programme will focus on the Mediterranean basin, a region with a distinct identity and a pivotal role in addressing European and global affairs. The area has witnessed significant global challenges, including the rise of liberal democratic norms, the growth of populist and anti-establishment movements, and the economic and social dynamics of regional integration.

Other critical issues include post-colonial ties, heavy migration flows, climate change, socio-demographic shifts, corruption, governance quality, and the evolving security landscape in the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea.

By following EUROSUD, students will:
  • explore these developments through diverse theoretical and methodological approaches from across the humanities and social sciences;
  • gain unparalleled regional expertise, a solid foundation in international affairs, and advanced research and professional skills;
  • be prepared for international careers, such as: researcher at a research institute, international think tank, governmental organisation, European institutions or a career as a policy advisor (national ministry, local government, or governmental organisation), lobbyist and consultant.
Graduates with a background in Political Science, other social sciences (Law, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, International Relations, European and other Area Studies or Economics and Business) or other related disciplines such as History, Geography, Literature, Languages or Journalism fit best the programme's profile.

Depending on the chosen study track, students can get either:

  • Double Degree: Master in Democracy and Government (UAM) & Master in European and International Studies (AMU)
  • Multiple Degree: Master in Democracy and Government (UAM); Master in European Studies (ULB) & Master in International Relations and supranational Institutions (SUR)
