Focus on Society, Culture & Heritage
The Global CIVIS Days 2022, hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), focused on the topics addressed by CIVIS Hub 2 Society, Culture & Heritage, which NKUA co-leads with the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen.
Significant contemporary issues related to these three topics were addressed, highlighting the role of CIVIS as a whole and the Hub in particular in the world around us. Accordingly, three open sessions were organised in the form of panels. The panels centred on the three interconnected components of the Hub: global society, cultural diversity and critical heritage studies. Each panel concentrated on themes of particular relevance to today’s societal and cultural challenges. They highlighted the contribution made by universities to the societies that support them, to European societies and to humanity as a whole.
Speakers
Speakers included academics from CIVIS universities who are experts in their respective fields. They offered their ideas and thoughts on a variety of issues of their choice. Following their presentations, they engaged in open discussion among themselves and with the audience.
Practical details
The panels lasted around 1.5 to 2 hours and were open to all students and staff of CIVIS member universities and to the community in general.
It was possible to attend and participate either in person or online.
