New psychoactive substances represent a constantly evolving public health challenge in the drug field. The list of substances appearing on the drug market is constantly growing, with approximately one new psychoactive substance per week in Europe. One of the major challenges is not only to identify them, but also to make sure that medical professionals are aware of their existence in order to diagnose possible overdoses.

The CIVIS course is a joint project of researchers form Aix-Marseille Université, Université libre de Bruxelles and Sapienza Università di Roma.

It is open for academics, Master’s and PhD students from CIVIS member universities who have basic knowledge of clinical toxicology and drugs abuse.

The aim of this course is to improve knowledge’s on the new psychoactive substances, to raise awareness of the dangers and risks of these new consumptions which are growing rapidly, how to manage acute intoxications and both clinical and toxicological diagnosis in order to improve the medical care.
