[Past Events ](https://civis.eu/sv/past-events) 2. 2022 CIVIS CHANCE Romania Workshop 2022 CIVIS CHANCE Romania Workshop ==================================== Format On-site Open to CIVIS academics Date 19 → 23 sep 2022 - [About the event](#tab-about) - [Speakers](#tab-speakers) **The University of Bucharest is organising a week-long professional development workshop to train future STEM faculty mentors in developing and implementing rigorous and relevant undergraduate research experiences. Université libre de Bruxelles, Aix-Marseille Université and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens are co-organising this CIVIS activity.** This workshop is organised into a two-course international program involving five institutions (four CIVIS and one U.S.) and covering environmental issues confronting the Danube Delta. The workshop will take place in Bucharest, Romania, from 19 to 23 September 2022. The registration for the event is open to academics. Practical information --------------------- 9 academics from the **CIVIS member universities that co-organise the event** will be selected to receive a grant to support their travel and stay in Bucharest, Romania. The workshop will be held at the following address: Splaiul Independenței 91-95, București, Faculty of Biology, University of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania. The event will be in English. Her prodigious experiences as a biology professor in the life sciences, faculty mentor in teaching, short-term study abroad program director and development officer, international conservationist, researcher in the field of biology education, and foreign affairs officer for the U.S. Department of State in the area of science diplomacy and science and technology (S&T) cooperation have empowered her to constantly navigate the changing dynamic of higher education worldwide in order to (re) create transformative learning environments that support, encourage, and inspire students to better our world through STEM. ### Dr. Kathleen Fadigan ![](/storage/files/fadigan.jpg) - **The Pennsylvania State University - Lehigh Valley** - **Biology Educator and CHANCE Co-Instructor** - **** Dr. Fadigan earned her Ed.D. in Curriculum, Instruction and Technology in Education from Temple University in 2003. She has taught courses in science education, sustainability leadership, and plant biology. Since 2007, she has served as a co-instructor for the CHANCE field study in Costa Rica, Panama, Australia, and Romania. Her research interests include informal science education, science fairs, using social media to educate adults about food waste, and gender equity in science.
