Intergenerational Learning Communities Intergenerational Learning Communities ======================================== The CIVIS Open Lab “Intergenerational Learning Communities” fosters interaction and collaboration between people of different ages through structured activities. The project addresses age-related stereotypes and promotes mutual understanding, empathy, and civic engagement. It is a collaboration between three CIVIS universities (NKUA, PLUS, UAM) and partner NGOs (Mission ANTHROPOS, primary and public secondary schools). Activities include pilot programs in movement, music, and health literacy, co-learning classrooms, intergenerational public events, and webinars during Global Intergenerational Week. The Open Lab provides step-by-step guidance for designing, implementing, and evaluating intergenerational programs, while creating tools and resources to support academics, practitioners, and community stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to increase social participation, strengthen intergenerational ties, and generate sustainable, inclusive practices that improve quality of life across communities. Numbers involved: Approximately 300–350 participants during the OL activities. ### Social Impact - Strengthened intergenerational communication and empathy - Increased civic engagement and community participation - Practical learning opportunities and co-created resources - Improved awareness of ageism and social inclusion - Contributions to policy recommendations and replicable intergenerational programs Core Methodology ------------------ Participatory, co-creation-based approach integrating workshops, pilot programs, and community engagement. Uses mixed methods including collaborative learning, arts and movement activities, and public events to foster intergenerational understanding and produce transferable resources and policy insights.
