This handbook presents the CIVIS Alliance's shared vision of civic engagement and university social responsibility. It introduces the Alliance's common civic identity, maps existing engagement practices across member universities, and provides recommendations for strengthening collaboration, societal impact and sustainable civic action.

Building Our Civic Identity explores the CIVIS Alliance's shared approach to civic engagement and the role of universities in creating positive societal impact.

The handbook presents the CIVIS framework for civic engagement, showcases inspiring practices from member universities, and outlines recommendations for strengthening collaboration, inclusion, sustainability and community partnerships across higher education.

Designed as a practical reference, it supports universities, academics, researchers and institutional leaders in embedding civic values and social responsibility into education, research, governance and external engagement.

    This volume is a monograph documenting the virtual reconstruction projects of the Temple of Baalshamin, one of the most significant forms of tangible heritage belonging to the Syrian community, destroyed as a result of terrorist attacks. Through a series of workshops with Syrian communities—including refugees, displaced persons, and individuals who have experienced either forced or voluntary migration—the virtual reconstruction is presented as a process that supports social inclusion and the reconstruction of cultural identity.
