Successful candidates for the "Promotio sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae" (Latin for "doctoral graduation under the auspices of the President of the Republic") must have achieved excellent results throughout their academic career, from their secondary school leaving certificates to their final doctoral examinations.

Ms Vukusic, a mathematician, received the ring of honour from President Van der Bellen. Her dissertation, entitled "Effective resolution of Diophantine problems related to S-unit equations", focuses on the field of number theory. The thesis consists of seven publications, all of which have already been published in international journals.

The last ceremony of its kind

This academic milestone is one that around 20 doctoral students in Austria enjoy each year. The ceremony held between the PLUS and Mozarteum University is also the last ceremony of its kind, as future candidates from around Austria will be invited to an exclusive reception at the Hofburg in Vienna to receive their honours.
