Launch of Kick-off meeting of CIVIS in Rome Launch of Kick-off meeting of CIVIS in Rome =========================================== 26 novembre 2019 Tuesday 18th November 2019 saw the celebration of the official kick-off of CIVIS, the European Civic University, hosted by Sapienza University of Rome, in Palazzo Baleani, Rome. On this occasion, the rectors and representatives of the eight partner universities, ambassadors of the relevant countries and officials attended the event in Palazzo Baleani to celebrate this historical moment. The event also marked an important cornerstone for CIVIS on building the university of the future as the eight partner universities signed umbrella Erasmus agreements which will allow students, academics, researchers and admin staff to study, work, and share their knowledge & experience as freely as in their institutions of origin. Afternoon sessions were organised on 19th and 20th November to pursue the strategic development of the European University Initiative. Speeches of Prof. Eugenio Gaudio, Rector of La Sapienza Università di Roma and current President of the CIVIS Alliance, and Prof. Yvon Berland, Rector of Aix-Marseille University can be read and downloaded at the following links: - Speech from the Rector of La Sapienza Università di Roma: - Speech from the Rector of Aix-Marseille University: - [ press-review-civis-19-november.pdf (PDF, 2 MB) ](https://civis.eu/storage/files/press-review-civis-19-november.pdf) Related news ------------ - [ ![](https://civis.eu/storage/files/laurent-audetat-800x600.jpg?token=1cc0b926783a2aab82f8c7ce4c5eb2b0)From Lausanne to Aix-Marseille: tracing research through the archives People 12 ottobre 2026 ](https://civis.eu/it/the-civis-newsroom/from-lausanne-to-aix-marseille-tracing-research-through-the-archives) - [ ![](https://civis.eu/storage/files/sshgp11-800x600.jpg?token=0540e37a0b3a2a6ccffebc161e627674)For participants, BIPs are a gift that keeps on giving Learn 7 ottobre 2026 ](https://civis.eu/it/the-civis-newsroom/for-participants-bips-are-a-gift-that-keeps-on-giving) - [ ![](https://civis.eu/storage/files/nat4dd-team-800x600.jpg?token=19580f3566e7e590a42ea7ae6661cd46)Il nuovo programma di master congiunto CIVIS NAT4DD ottiene l’accreditamento “European Approach” Study programmes 5 ottobre 2026 ](https://civis.eu/it/the-civis-newsroom/nat4dd-joint-master-s-programme-earns-aqas-accreditation-marking-a-milestone-for-civis-joint-education) [ Scopri tutte le nostre storie ](https://civis.eu/it/the-civis-newsroom) [ Mayors day: paving the way for successful collaborations between Universities, Cities & Regions ](%20https://civis.eu/it/the-civis-newsroom/mayors-day-paving-the-way-for-successful-collaborations-between-universities-cities-and-regions-1%20) [ European Universities Initiative - Building the universities of the future ](%20https://civis.eu/it/the-civis-newsroom/european-universities-initiative-building-the-universities-of-the-future-1%20) ![CIVIS – Europe’s Civic University Alliance](https://civis.eu/build/assets/civis-CCpvK1nT.svg) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Europe’s Civic University Alliance ![Co-funded by the European Union](https://civis.eu/build/assets/co-funded-by-the-european-union-DSKLW1us.png)Views and opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
