What are the CIVIS Days ?
A moment to get together, a moment to inspire and innovate, a moment to celebrate.
The CIVIS Days are CIVIS’ main annual event, gathering students, university staff, civil society, innovators, policymakers and local representatives from across Europe.
We come together to connect and cooperate to build the future of our Alliance, to share what we have learned and developed, and to find innovative solutions to societal challenges.
Each year a different CIVIS member university takes up the challenge of hosting, using the event as an opportunity to showcase CIVIS to their own community while positioning themselves at the heart of our Alliance.

CIVIS Days 2023
In May 2023, CIVIS is travelling to Germany to enjoy the hospitality of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen.
For this year’s edition, Tübingen is focusing on three topics under the banner “Sustainably Connected Universities”:
- Celebrating the academic substance of the CIVIS Alliance and the societal relevance of our academic work, by giving a platform to the CIVIS Hubs [LINK].
- Exploring the realities of CIVIS as an Inter-University Space, an Alliance built on strong and long-lasting connections which facilitate the free flow of people, ideas, and information.
- Underlining our commitment to sustainability as we construct our European University Alliance.
The three-day event features numerous workshops, seminars and meetings, organised around three main pillars:
- Meetings for the governance and management bodies of the CIVIS Alliance, gathering staff and academics from our member universities to build connections and plan next steps.
- Workshops combining actors from different CIVIS bodies who would rarely meet, where they can discuss broad strategic issues such as research in CIVIS or the future of our mobility programmes.
- Public sessions open to external participants, both in person and online. The lectures and panel discussions during “CIVIS – a sustainably connected Alliance” will present how we are building our inter-university space with an eye for the future of our Alliance and the planet. The seminar series “An Innovative Academic Alliance: Showcasing the CIVIS Hubs” offers five scientific sessions about our academic work on the global challenges which inspire our educational activities.
