Planting the seeds for research collaboration (CIVIS Days 2026)

This session showcased research projects developed as part of the CIVIS seed-funding call with the aim tto reflect on the benefits and limitations of this type of initiative in implementing long-term research collaborations across the Alliance.

Following the presentation of four significant projects selected from calls launched over the last two years and representing the diversity of initiatives supported (e.g., early-career researchers training, citizen science projects, transdisciplinary networks, etc.), an open discussion with the audience provided the opportunity to reflect on the challenges and leverage points of this type of initiative in institutionalising and sustaining collaborations at the level of a European alliance.

  • IMAGINING HOMELAND: PALMYRA'S (IN)TANGIBLE HERITAGE AND THE VOICES OF DISPLACEMENT

    This volume is a monograph documenting the virtual reconstruction projects of the Temple of Baalshamin, one of the most significant forms of tangible heritage belonging to the Syrian community, destroyed as a result of terrorist attacks. Through a series of workshops with Syrian communities—including refugees, displaced persons, and individuals who have experienced either forced or voluntary migration—the virtual reconstruction is presented as a process that supports social inclusion and the reconstruction of cultural identity.
