CIVIS presented its vision of the European Degree and of European University alliances as actors of academic diplomacy during a two-day event in Romania, during which the 21 local members of EUAs exchanged practices. The event, "Academic Diplomacy in the Context of European University alliances", was an opportunity to address the topic of collaboration between the university and diplomatic environments and to develop Romania's internationalisation.

Organised by RO European Universities - a network of Romanian higher education institutions, members of European university alliances - the conference focused on contemporary issues related to strengthening connections among students, alumni, academics, and researchers from the Romanian diaspora and engaging with relevant national and international institutions.

The event offered a great opportunity for the University of Bucharest to present and share insights on the CIVIS initiative, highlighting its connection and contribution to the European Degree.

Generating change and addressing the needs of the students

“Internationalisation of European university alliances - new global frontiers, new academic diplomacy” and “The European Diploma and the CIVIS Alliance. Vision and best practices” were the two conferences delivered by prof. Romiță Iucu - Co-Chair of FOR-EU Subgroup on European Degrees, prof. Sorin Costreie - Vice-Rector for University Networks and Public Relations, and Alexandru Carțiș - Head of CIVIS Education Unit.

The discussions also focused on the involvement of global partners in the activities of the alliances which Romanian universities are part of, as well as the benefits of joining a form of legal entity.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of State from the Ministry of Education, Romanian ambassadors from various European countries, academics and staff from different Romanian universities also attended.
