Recently launched by the University of Bucharest, UB Researchers’ Map is an interactive platform showcasing the participation of university community members in international conferences and academic events. It displays geolocated pins with information about UB researchers, professors, and PhD students’ participation in scientific conferences, workshops, and other research-related activities around the world.

According to the Times Higher Education – Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025, the University of Bucharest ranks first among Romanian universities and within the 301–350 range worldwide for interdisciplinary scientific research.
Now, from Seoul to San Francisco, and from Oslo to Cape Town, the members of the UB academic community can to showcase their global presence, further strengthening the university’s international reputation. UB’s Vice-Rector for Research, prof. Carmen Chifiriuc, PhD, notes:
The UB Researchers’ Map reflects the work of an open, dynamic, and constantly (inter)connected scientific community, that uses modern technologies and digital solutions. Through this platform, the University of Bucharest reaffirms its role as a facilitator of scientific dialogue at national and international levels. International visibility is not only a recognition of our value – but also the courage to reaffirm our confidence in a set of principles that drive new partnerships, projects, and innovative ideas
The launch of the platform reinforces the university’s commitment to supporting and promoting its researchers by offering them visibility and international recognition. The map is a valuable resource and a concrete tool for anyone involved in academic mobility, demonstrating the university’s active support for global knowledge exchange. It can also directly assist in identifying potential partners and collaborative projects within the UB community.
A dedicated programme for communicating science
The UB Researchers’ Map is part of a broader UB initiative to highlight research outcomes and make them accessible and useful to society.
Coordinated by UB’s Communication and Public Relations Department since its inception in 2018, the Science Communication Programme promotes the scientific work carried out at the University of Bucharest and in other academic and research communities.
The programme also aims to create opportunities for new contacts and collaborations among researchers. It joins other successful initiatives that promote scientific activities and popularise research results, such as UB Conferences – Science Made Easy, Discussions with SKEPSIS, UB Science Dose, and microSCOP: UB Researcher at the Microphone.
