This report tells how the CIVIS2 Erasmus+ project contributed to providing students across CIVIS universities one shared campus, both physical and digital.
The results speak for themselves: annual student mobility across the Alliance has grown from 2,427 in 2022 to 3,122 in 2026, even through the constraints of post-pandemic recovery and finite Erasmus+ funding.
Blended Intensive Programmes have become CIVIS's flagship format, with over 60 BIPs a year reaching more than 1,560 students in 2025-2026 alone, alongside three now-operational Joint or Multiple Degree Programmes. And all these numbers do not even tell the story of local participants, which also enjoy this challenge-based course offer or the interest that, unfortunately, surpasses the Alliances capacities.
A newer initiative, Student-Led Projects, has already engaged 579 students across 18 projects and 120 mobility placements, tackling issues from the housing crisis to ecological sustainability. proof that students aren't just taking part in CIVIS, they're shaping it. On the digital side, the launch of CIVIS Agora in February 2026 gave students, staff and researchers one place to find the Alliance's full educational offer, working alongside the relaunched CIVIS website. And with more than 40 modern and 10 ancient languages mapped across the Alliance and new formats like Language Cafés drawing steady interest, multilingualism is moving from ambition to everyday reality.
