It provides guidance and good practices for creating more accessible, welcoming and inclusive musical experiences. [**Designing Relaxed Concerts booklet**](https://civis.eu/storage/files/relaxed-concerts-booklet.pdf) draws on the experience of the CIVIS Chamber Orchestra and concerts organised in Rome, Athens and Madrid. The booklet explores how Relaxed Concerts can support inclusive cultural participation, sharing practical lessons on accessibility, venues, repertoire, audience engagement and preparation. It also includes a practical checklist to support artists, universities and cultural and community organisations interested in developing similar initiatives. This guide is the culmination of a series of activities developed within the framework of the All-Year-Long CIVIS Open Lab Music Ensembles project, an initiative focused on Relaxed Concerts for people living with dementia and their carers. Beyond delivering high-quality performances, the project aimed to raise awareness amongst students, cultural professionals and the wider public about the importance of concerts that are responsive to the needs of people living with dementia. By bringing together universities, cultural organisations and health-sector bodies, the project sought to contribute to the development of good-practice principles for the design and implementation of similar concerts, offering useful points of reference for other institutions wishing to develop related initiatives. This booklet has been written as a reflective practical handbook: a document that shares experience, offers guidance and raises questions for future work. Rather than presenting a fixed model to be reproduced, it gathers what was learned through the preparation, training, performance, observation and feedback that accompanied the CIVIS concerts.
