World-renowned ethologist and activist Dr. Jane Goodall gives inspiring lecture at PLUS

Dr. Jane Goodall, a global icon of hope and positive change, recently delivered an inspiring lecture at the ceremonial hall at the PLUS. Addressing a captivated young audience, she emphasised the importance of creating a better world for people, animals, and the environment. Through her Roots & Shoots programme, Dr. Goodall continues to empower the next generation to make a meaningful difference.

Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, UN Messenger of Peace, and Dame of the British Empire, Dr. Goodall shared her vision, personal journey, and commitment to species preservation and environmental protection. Schools from across Austria and representatives from voluntary organisations, including the youth fire brigade, showcased their Roots & Shoots projects, highlighting diverse efforts to protect the environment, nature, and biodiversity.

After the lecture, in a more intimate setting, staff and students of Paris Lodron University of Salzburg had the unique opportunity to meet Dr. Goodall in the library auditorium. She shared there touching anecdotes from her life, her challenging scientific career, and her favourite projects, offering a deeply personal glimpse into her extraordinary journey.

Dr. Jane Goodall is a world-renowned ethologist and activist dedicated to fostering deeper understanding and action on behalf of nature. She is celebrated for her pioneering research on wild chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania, which revolutionised our understanding of human-animal relationships.

This groundbreaking study, the longest-running wild chimpanzee research in the world, continues to thrive, emphasising that animal welfare is intrinsically linked to the well-being of people and the environment.
