Internationalisation of European Universities Alliances: the new frontiers

Hosted by the Université de Toulouse and la Région Occitanie, this event is designed to explore why and how European Universities alliances build strategic partnerships with universities and stakeholders beyond the European Union.

Across the sessions, European Universities alliances will discuss their internationalisation strategies and approaches and present case studies about how alliances can forge successful international connections.

Internationalisation is set as one of the key policy objectives for the European Universities alliances with the ambition to contribute to European attractiveness and competitiveness. This event aims to facilitate dialogue between Alliances, Non-European Higher Education Institutions and European, national and regional policymakers to explore which are the current state of play and the possible pathways of alliances’ internationalisation.

The event on site is by invitation only. Livestreaming will be available here

What you'll gain:

  • Knowledge: Learn about internationalisation for European Universities alliances.
  • Networking: Connect with key players, including alliance representatives, policymakers, and international higher education leaders.
  • Collaboration: Share and discover best practices for fostering collaboration among alliances and partners worldwide.

This event is an important opportunity to understand and shape the future of global engagement for European Universities alliances.

Beyond a first plenary session, the event will feature two focus sessions to deepen the understanding of collaborative opportunities in two key regions. First, participants will discuss ongoing and future collaborations with Ukraine partners in the context of the war and post-war reconstruction context. Then, the discussion will focus on cooperation between Alliances and African partners.

CIVIS will be represented there by Professor Romita Iucu, from the University of Bucharest, as a speaker in the panel "Internationalisation and European Universities alliances", where Charlotte Kedslie, from the University of Glasgow will be rapporteur.

Professor Mahomed Moolla, from the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, will represent CIVIS as a speaker in the panel "Partnerships with Africa: how to unlock mutual benefits".
