The Department of Romance Studies and Classics at Stockholm University warmly welcomes colleagues in Latin and Classical Greek at all CIVIS member universities to an online Disciplinary Meeting on October 15 at 13.00–15.30 CET. The main purpose of the meeting is to get to know each other, learn more about the education and research of our departments and start discussing areas of interests for future collaboration in CIVIS. We are hoping for an open dialogue with no obligations or set roadmap hereafter. We will jointly discuss possible next steps at the end of the meeting.
Agenda
- Welcome by Prof Maria Plaza and Denis Searby
- Introduction to CIVIS by Fredrik Oldsjö
- Presentation from each university (10 minutes per university)
- Discussion of future collaboration
- Agreement on next steps
The central part of the meeting is that each university makes a brief presentation (ca 10 min). The most important point to consider will be what kind of collaboration each group would be interested in. But it is also appropriate to give some background information on the field of classics at each university (approximate number of staff and students, subjects and/or degrees included, current directions or projects in research) along with any particular points each group would like to underline (e.g. recent successes in outreach or attracting new students, specific challenges). It would be good to share a powerpoint presentation to make it time-efficient and facilitate documentation.
Registration
We are very grateful for the positive response to our first preliminary invitation we received so far from colleagues at almost all CIVIS member universities. In order to plan the meeting and facilitate further contact, we ask all who wish to participate to register online before 11 October 2021.
How to join the meeting
This first disciplinary meeting will be arranged online via Zoom. For best quality we recommend all participants to use a fixed connection and a headset. We will send the Zoom link to all confirmed participants in advance of the meeting.
