This report demonstrates how CIVIS has built a genuinely flexible, modular, and sometimes "stackable" learning offer across the Alliance, one that lets students and staff combine short, certified learning experiences into a coherent path rather than committing to a full programme from day one.

The scale of what has been developed or still is under development during the last 4 years (2022-2026) within CIVIS is substantial: 4 micro-programmes, 12 micro-credentials, 2 MOOCs, a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) activity, a Doctoral Module, an Asynchronous Online Course, a Modular Learning Unit, and 236 Blended Intensive Programmes. This offer would not have been possible without academic teaching teams from all CIVIS' five thematic Hubs. This directly aligns CIVIS with the EU's 2022 Council Recommendation on micro-credentials, built around learning outcomes, quality assurance and portability across borders.

Some examples, are the micro-programme on civic engagement or our micro-credential for managers on AI and the workplace.

Getting here meant confronting real structural obstacles: accreditation, recognition of learning outcomes, and differing national rules across 11 institutions. The report also tells us what is still needed: a more operational joint accreditation framework and stronger cross-institutional recognition. But the foundation is now in place for CIVIS's next phase: building  flexible learning pathways out of smaller, certified, recognised learning units.
