UNIL's UCreate selects 10 innovative projects for development with coaching and financial support

The UCreate programme, created by the HUB Entrepreneurship and Innovation of UNIL, empowers students, researchers, professors, employees and alumni to transform innovative ideas into tangible solutions for a better, more sustainable future.

This year, 10 projects involving 25 participants have been selected for the second phase of the programme. During this phase, teams will refine their projects with entrepreneurial ambitions, benefiting from seven structured modules, personalised coaching and financial support to bring their ideas to life.

This new cohort includes students, researchers, and alumni from five faculties of the University of Lausanne, as well as nurses from the CHUV :

  1. the Faculty of Biology and Medicine Alumni's 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐬𝐲 offers flexibility and adaptability by creating durable and affordable DIY furniture to combat waste;

  2. the Faculty of Advanced Business Studies & Faculty of Social and Political Sciences student project 𝐂-𝐌𝐚𝐲 helps tuk-tuk drivers in Ethiopia convert their combustion engines into electric motors with a swappable battery system;

  3. the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment student project 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐥𝐚 is a fast-food service on campus offering fresh, local, and affordable meals to support students in precarious situations while reducing food waste;

  4. the Faculty of Arts & Faculty of Advanced Business Studies student project 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐬 Creates healthy and delicious ice creams made entirely from plant-based ingredients, with no added sugars or saturated fats;

  5. the Faculty of Biology and Medicine researcher project 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚 develops a compostable bioplastic for food products, made from naturally sourced biomass, to replace petroleum-based plastics;

  6. the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences student project 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 helps with countering fast fashion by offering second-hand luxury clothing and combining quality, style, and sustainability;

  7. the Faculty of Biology and Medicine Alumni project 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐲𝐧𝐝𝐬 provides a platform to support neurodivergent individuals with educational content, coaching, and access to a peer-to-peer community;

  8. the CHUV project 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬-𝐗 designs an optimised care cart for wound treatment, offering diagnostic assistance and integrated dressing distribution for efficient stock management;

  9. the Faculty of Advanced Business Studies Alumni project 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 offers professionals with formal dress codes an eco-friendly, tailored clothing alternative available online;

  10. the Faculty of Advanced Business Studies & Faculty of Social and Political Sciences researcher project 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 provides building managers with a Swiss-made hygienic urinal grate, ensuring optimal sanitation while reducing the ecological footprint of their facilities.

The HUB Entrepreneurship and Innovation of UNIL is dedicated to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit that drives ecological, economic and social transition within UNIL’s community.
