Reclaiming Feminist Justice is a CIVIS Student-Led Project (2025–2026) dedicated to commemorating and critically reassessing the legacy of the 1976 International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women, held in Brussels. Conceived as a transnational academic and activist initiative, the project combines exhibitions, study days, conferences, and cultural events across Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium.
In March 1976, thousands of women from over forty countries gathered in Brussels for a symbolic yet historically transformative tribunal, co-organised by Diana E. H. Russell and Nicole Van den Ven. Though lacking formal legal authority, the Tribunal publicly exposed systemic violence against women—sexual violence, domestic abuse, genital mutilation, reproductive exploitation, incarceration, and trafficking—laying the foundations for a radical, transnational feminist approach to justice and collective memory. Fifty years later, this Student-Led Project reactivates that legacy through critical dialogue, interdisciplinary scholarship, artistic expression, and public engagement, with a particular focus on the Brussels commemorative events of March 2026.
