On Tuesday 1st October 2019, we celebrate the launch of the CIVIS Alliance, the European Civic University with the partnership of eight leading universities across the Mediterranean and Baltic seas: Aix-Marseille Université (Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, France), National Kapodistrian University of Athens (Athens, Greece), Université libre de Bruxelles (Brussels, Belgium), Universitatea din București (Bucharest, Romania), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Madrid, Spain), Sapienza Università di Roma (Rome, Italy), Stockholm University (Stockholm, Sweden) and Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany)
CIVIS will pioneer the European University initiative launched by the European Commission and envision a European University as a space for innovative and responsible teaching, research, cultural exchanges and citizen action within Europe and its institutions.
With a focus on European connections with Mediterranean and African regions in research, education and innovation, CIVIS will become a transnational collaborative universities and bring together almost 400,000 students and 55,000 staff members to foster cooperation between one another and shape the university of tomorrow.
