 This scientific paper presents the conceptual and methodological framework of the CIVIS Contemporary Childhoods/Youths Open Lab (CON-CHY). Through participatory case studies in Madrid, Salzburg and Maputo, it explores young people’s experiences, participation and mobility in urban spaces.

The [**paper Young People in Place: A Participatory Transnational CIVIS Open Lab** ](https://civis.eu/storage/files/poveda-d-hennig-s-rodriguez-navarro-h-mabasso-q-cotorbai-s-m-issari-p-young-people-in-place-a-participatory-transnational-civis-open-lab.pdf)explores how young people experience and participate in urban public spaces across different social and geographical contexts.

Drawing on case studies in Madrid, Salzburg and Maputo, the research uses participatory mapping, arts-based workshops, interviews and focus groups to document young people’s perspectives on inclusion, exclusion, mobility and belonging. The project also demonstrates the potential of the CIVIS Open Lab model for transnational and participatory research.
