Post-racial transmodernities: Afro-European relations, Mediterranean trajectories & intercultural reciprocities Post-racial transmodernities: Afro-European relations, Mediterranean trajectories & intercultural reciprocities ===================================================================================================================== Format On-site Open to CIVIS students & academics Date 8 Sep 2022 - [About the event](#tab-about) - [Speakers](#tab-speakers) **On 8 September 2022, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is organising a CIVIS international workshop entitled "Post-racial transmodernities: Afro-European Relations, Mediterranean Trajectories & Intercultural Reciprocities".** This international CIVIS research network configures the ways by which different histories of racism, xenophobia, and post-racism are challenged and transgressed by the dissemination and proliferation of decolonizing and creolizing discourses, aesthetics and politics that refuse to be accountable to the provincialism of nationalisms and ethnocentrisms. Scholars from African and European universities are meeting to examine the ongoing intercultural, trans-continental and trans-Mediterranean relations between Africa and Europe and engage the recently developing Afropean discourses, aesthetics and politics that result from the sprawling and growth of communities of African and Afro-European descent across the northern and southern territories of the European continent and are interrelated with different places and temporalities in Africa. ### Practical details The event is hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. It will be held at the Athens Historical Museum (Plaka) on 8 September 2022 from 10:00 to 18:00 EET / 11:00 to 19:00 CET. The event is open by invitation and to students from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, including Erasmus students.
