The Department of Music Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), part of NKUA's School of Philosophy, offers a multifaceted undergraduate program, based on a multi-disciplinary approach to music studies. The Department of Music Studies has a strong research profile in all scientific disciplines pertaining to music and musicology.
The academic community of the department wishes to actively support CIVIS, which it considers an important initiative for strengthening European integration in higher research and education. They are therefore organizing the Disciplinary Meeting ‘Music Studies in CIVIS’ to discuss opportunities for collaboration with colleagues from other departments across the CIVIS Alliance who share their interest in the study of music. Participants will introduce themselves and their institutions, set out ideas for joint courses and graduate programs, and explore collaborative research and partnerships for preparing and submitting research proposals.
We specifically invite colleagues who work in the following fields to join the meeting :
- Musicology
- Music History
- Musical Analysis
- Philosophy of Music
- Sociology of Music
- Ethnomusicology
- Anthropology of Music
- Popular Music
- Performance Studies
- Musical Technology
- Music Education
- Music Psychology
The meeting will take place online at 11.00 - 13.00 CET on Tuesday 29 June.
