CIVIS, Europe’s Civic University Alliance, will be present at the EAIE 2025 Conference and Exhibition in Gothenburg, Sweden (9–12 September), continuing its active role in disseminating lessons learned and contributing to the development of the European Education Area.

As one of the pioneering alliances selected under the European Universities initiative, CIVIS brings together 11 leading European universities and 6 associate members in Africa. At EAIE 2025, CIVIS will showcase its commitment to building a truly transnational, inclusive, and challenge-driven interuniversity campus.

A new concept, a new destination

Following the success of the “CIVIS Station” at EAIE 2024 in Toulouse, CIVIS is preparing to unveil a new surprise concept at its booth in Gothenburg. This year’s theme, “Go-create”, resonates deeply with the CIVIS mission: to co-create knowledge, opportunities, and solutions for students, academics, researchers and staff across borders.

While the full concept will be revealed on-site, visitors can expect a space that reflects the alliance’s evolution into a destination for collaboration – a place where the European Universities initiative becomes tangible, and where the idea of a European degree takes shape through real-world partnerships and innovation.

📍 Join us at the CIVIS booth P71 in the EAIE 2025 Exhibition Hall!

Start with a cup of coffee and insider talks on key subjects regarding internationalisation and mobility!

On Wednesday, September 10, take a moment to discuss with our Heads of Unit for Education and Mobility during the first CIVIS talks, from 14:00-16:00, and let's unpack together the subject of CIVIS BIPs: Alliance and university perspectives. Alexandru Cartis and Petra Hopfner will be there to walk you through our experience!

Right after, at 16:15, Community of Practice of Alliances' Heads of Communication will have an informal meeting on the CIVIS booth.

On Thursday, September 11, join Prof. Anna Sobek, coordinator at Stockholm University of the Master’s Programme in Transdisciplinary Studies of Climate, Environment, and Energy (TRACEE). If you are interested in joint programmes, transdisciplinary education and curious about the challenges of coordinating ambitious, innovative degrees, come chat with Prof. Sobek from 9:00-10:00 or between 14:00-16:00.

Mark your interest to be part of our CIVIS Talks here. Spots are limited!

A networking cocktail will be organised for members of CIVIS Universities participating in EAIE25, on Thursday afternoon, from 16:30 – 18:00.

Stop by for coffee, informal discussions (and some surprises) and discover where the CIVIS journey takes us next!

Why it matters

CIVIS Alliance is a living laboratory for the European Universities Initiative, where ideas become action and collaboration leads to transformation. From joint degrees to civic engagement, from mobility to innovation, CIVIS is helping define what the European degree of the future could look like. Participating in events such as EAIE25, allows CIVIS to be present with other alliances and strenghten the community of practice as it consolidates. It is equally an opportunity to share lessons learned, challeges, results and future endeavours.
