Aix-Marseille Université: Societal innovation at the heart of Local CIVIS Days
On 3 February 2022, more than 50 local institutional, associative, cultural and socio-economic actors and other European universities met online for the new edition of the Local CIVIS Days of Aix-Marseille Université (AMU)
After the success of the Global CIVIS Days that took place in November 2021 at Université libre de Bruxelles, Aix-Marseille Université organised its Local CIVIS Days on 3 February 2022 to continue the discussion on The University in the City and the symbiotic relationship between the two.
The Local CIVIS Days webinar
On 3 February 2022, Aix-Marseille Université organized a webinar on European universities as vectors of societal innovation on the territory. The online event was open to the university community as well as to citizens and external partners. For two hours, participants were invited to exchange on the progressive construction of European universities and on their capacity to position themselves as vectors of societal innovation in their territory.

Introduction of the CIVIS Alliance and its major challenges
The Aix-Marseille Université key actors and stakeholders presented the opportunities offered by civic engagement through service-learning and the answers it can bring to the 5 major challenges of the alliance.
This first part was also an opportunity to present how CIVIS is developing an innovative training offer based on its academic cooperation spaces called "CIVIS Hubs".
Focus on the CIVIS Open Lab of Aix-Marseille Université
More than 50 participants set out to discover the last 4 projects selected in the framework of the AMU Open Lab that CIVIS launched in September 2021:
- Support for schooling, school, family, neighbourhood, let's all get involved: a project to better understand the realities of schoolchildren's families and improve parent-school relations
- Our futures, our cultures: a project to revitalize the action of cultural policies
- Lab'Citoyenneté Villa Air Bel: a project to encourage the residents of a neighbourhood to participate in the sustainable and positive transformation of their living space
- Walking for the LAMAs! A project for the co-construction of a new form of scientific mediation targeting school children
Meetings with two other European universities
The CIVIS alliance is evolving in a dynamic carried by 40 other European university alliances. Two of them have been invited to share their experience during this webinar! Representatives of the University of Poitiers and the University of Strasbourg, respectively members of the EC2U and EPICUR alliances presented their ambitions, initiatives and experiences on the subject.
